7 saum mag box and followers

I have a rem700 long action I'm having LRI blueprint and some other work. They will also be hanging a k&p barrel. I am gonna build a 7 saum.

I've talked to LRI several times about my build. Eric the barrel guy said the only issue I may run in to is feeding issues. Said I may have to tweak the follower and spring.

I plan to run 160+ seated long to gain the advantage of the long action. Would I start with a long action follower and mag box? Anyone have issues or trouble shot feeding issues already?

I would think LRI would be able to fix any feeding problems. Did you send them any dummy rds?

No. I just have my brass and bullets. I have a set of rcbs dies on the way but am told up to 12 weeks delivery.

I’m shooting 160 grain bullets in a short action with no feeding issues. Yeah, I would think your smith would work that out for you.

I’ll bite my tongue about LRI, but it should work with the factory magnum box and follower. I’d start there and if that doesn’t work maybe try an ultra mag box to accommodate the extra width of the saum case. That said, my 300 win had no issues feeding 30 Nosler cases, no modifications needed and theyre about the same width as your SAUM cases.

I've had far less issues feeding RSUAM out of a magnum LA with a STD mag follower and box than a SA. LA are relatively easy and IMO rarely need messing with.
