I’m just about done with my 6.5 PRC build, 22” Proof barrel 1:7.5 on Tikka T3x. Intending to load 124 gn Hammer Hunters for AK hunting, with a combined sheep and caribou hunt in the Brooks Range in the works. Internet searches suggest N560 or RL26 as go to powders. Since RL 26 is a unicorn, and N560 is hit or miss (mostly miss in my book) for availability, I’ve picked up a pound of Staball 6.5. I’d appreciate more experienced thoughts on the Staball powder for this combination. Hammer website has one ladder with Staball 6.5, but lots of N560 results. Do I accept that this is what’s available and go with it, or am I giving something up for actual hunting scenarios by not seeking the unicorn?
