6.5 hornady TAP precision vs. Match

I have some questions about hornady factory ammunition after reaching out to hornady and not receiving a response. Does anyone know if there is a difference between factory loaded 6.5 creedmoor TAP precision 147 eld-m vs. regular white box 147 eld-m? Stated velocities appear to be the same. If there is a difference, is it a functional difference that would make one a better choice vs the other?

Functionally, no. There are differences but I doubt you’d notice them (mostly QC behind the scenes at hornady if I recall). Buy whatever is available and shoots from your gun. I’ve shot both next to each other through the same gun and I don’t know if I can tell you either shot better. Some guns like the 140s better than the 147, but if you’re set on 147 for creedmoor either will work.

I find it funny they market TAP as optimized for terminal performance while the match ammo is optimized for long range performance - yet they are the same bullet. lawyers at their finest.

Thanks - my rifle shoots the 147 TAP eldm very well. The 178gr TAP eldm was also great out of my .300WM. This will be my first time trying match bullets for hunting so wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.

Interestingly, the white box eld-match ballistic chart shows information for a 200 yard zero and the red box shows a 100 yard zero, same exact muzzle velocity.
