If you have a good 6.5-284 load using H1000 and wouldn’t mind sharing your experience with it then I’d appreciate your suggestions. This will be for western deer and antelope hopefully. Component choices & options that I have on hand are:
  • H1000
  • H4350
  • Nosler 129gr ABLR
  • Nosler 140gr AB
  • Barnes 127gr LRX
  • Lapua brass
My first preference to work up is the Nosler 129gr ABLR using the H1000. The Barnes LRX are probably not going to get used but I have them so they’re here for now. Other considerations include a good Berger hunting bullet load, and any RL26 load is a no-go because it is truly impossible to find. All suggestions are appreciated, and yes I have reviewed other forums for load data. Thanks.

I don’t have an exact answer on the h1000 as I’ve used both Rl26 and N565 in mine.

You could look at what guys are using for 6.5prc’s as that is very close in capacity. From a quick search I see guys using from 57-58.2gr of H1000 but that’s with heavier bullets, and will depend on your brass.

I loaded up 30 of the 127LRX’s to complete a barrel break. Random box of these that I bought but not going to use these for hunting, so I put together 10 sets of 3 rounds each with 47gr to 50.6gr H1000 per Barnes load data guidance, Lapua brass, & some WLR primers that I want to use up. Groups were good at 1MOA to 1/2 MOA at 100 but velocities not impressive at between 2420’ish & 2680’ish.

So, now on to working up a good hunting load with the 129 ABLR’s or the 140 AB’s & hoping that the H1000 will provide good results as I have some now and believe I will be able to source more fairly easily. I also picked up a pound of RL22, but not sure if I would be able to get more if needed so I’ll probably not start with it now.

Your comments & advice on this are welcome. Thanks.

6mmbr site lists 48-49 grains of H4350 with 140 vld. I tend to use that in mine. Modest velocity really but very accurate and consistent. I use H1000 with 156 EOL.

Old thread but what is your load with h1000 and the 156? What brass are you using?
