Word on the street, 35k new applicants ( not all elk) in CO this year. Have your plan C-D and F ready. Wow!

I’m pretty sure the fact Wy closing the doors is flooding the CO market. OTC is going to be ugly. Really hoping I draw a couple long shots.

WY hasn't closed any doors.
I guess I should clarify. Yes not closed yet, but all this talk of change with R vs NR tag allocations ( already happened with some species) and the fact it’s taking 4-5 years to draw a general tag means CO and it’s PP system has just become more attractive. WY as of late is like the stock market, unpredictable, volatile, and many have cashed, or will cash out.

I’ll never catch the unit I’m eyeing at this rate
I regretted not putting in for a lesser point unit the second after I hit purchase.

I think there was 100k new apps a year or two ago. I’m also sure there some people that are no longer applying too. So, in the name of positivity, I don’t think it’s as bad as it looks on the surface.

Last year there was a decrease of 8647 elk applications [1st Choice] from the previous year
My memory is horrible after an accident but I thought there was a recent year with an explosion of apps. Maybe it’s just what it seems like in the woods.

As they convert OTC to draw units, we are going to see more apps

This is the truth. There are lots of units that can be drawn for mule deer and elk with zero or 1 point. Even a number of mule deer tags you can draw as a second choice. Doing the right research and willing to hunt a different state each year. You still have plenty of opportunity in the west to hunt 280-300” bulls and 150-170” bucks every year. Just might take a little bit more grinding the mountain in season and the computer in the off season.
