Looking for some input on a new build... 30 inch tube 18 lb rifle. Looking for performance to around 1500 yards. Nightforce NXS 8/32. Need some info on 300 grain bullets powder dies?? Have some Nosler 300RUM brass to start. Will be built on a Sako action Krieger bbl twisted for the 300 grain. 1.25 straight tube with brake

Have talked with shawn carlock? Or visited his website? Lot of edge info there. Can buy brass, dies specific for 338 edge from him.

92 grains of H1000 is a pretty standard load that should be at 2800 fps or more.

If you are going to do anything with an Edge Case design, do it with Shawn Carlock and I would go with his plus P chamber. He has dies too. You will need to run at least a 20 moa rail with that NXS 8-32 and you will run out of elevation just before or close to a mile. I would suggest you sell that scope and buy a 5.5 ~ 22 NXS for the extra 35 moa of elevation.

What do you mean by 1500 yard performance?
1500 yard targets, or big game?
If it's target I'd take a .30 cal over a .338, otherwise party on Garth...
Actually I'd still go .308, I hated my 338 it rattled my skull and did nothing that a rifle with far less recoil could do

Thanks good advice!

You were absolutely correct!

Check with Sam at Panhandle precision he has had this gun and several of car locks guns he can spit out more details than I can comprehend he is on instagram and super knowledgeable about all things long range

If you have any plan on hunting that gun in Idaho you might want to double check that weight by a couple #'s.
