So I've got a .300 WSM custom built rifle with a 1:10 twist rate 22" barrel. When I built it the plan was to shoot 190-210 grain Bergers out of it. Problem is I had to seat the bullet way off the lands (.129 I think?) to get it to feed through the magazine that way. Went out today and had two decent groups (.55 and .677) that plan on fine tuning to hopefully get tighter. However, I was curious to check out some other lighter bullets that aren't as long that I wouldn't have to seat as deep. Not sure quite how light I want to go with a 1:10. The new Hornady ELD-X bullets at 178 grains are what I'm thinking. Does anyone have any idea if those will shoot well through that twist rate or is it just something I'm going to have to shoot to find out?
Also, if you've got suggestions for other bullets to try out, I'm all ears!
