Any of y'all hunting with a .300 win mag with a 26" barrel and suppressor? If so, do you find it cumbersome to carry while elk hunting?

I run an ultra 5 on a 26, I'm more of an open country and canyon hunter.

I don't bust brush really, or do drives.

Doesn't bother me at all. And is only 3" longer then the 5 port break i was running.

I love it. I basically don't want to hunt with anyone not suppressed any more.

I ran a 26" 7 mag with suppressor, and it was long, but it was either on my pack, the ground, or tripod. Its a glassing and shooting rifle so length isn't a huge deal. I don't think it is something that you want to bust brush and carry in hand or slung while hunting.

But, I also went to 21" barrel and suppressor, so there is that...

did you wind up going with the 26” and suppressor? I’m leaning toward a .300 with a 22” one.

Depends on the hunt. I have a 26” .300wm and it’s not an issue at all on the right hunt. Definitely not busting brush with it but open country is a non issue. With that said I 100% prefer a shorter barrel and a suppressor.

Carried a 300 WM on an elk hunt last year. Rifle had a 24" barrel and a 7" suppressor. Never again!

I hunted last year with a suppressor for the first time. My 300WM has a 22 1/2 inch barrel with a 6 inch suppressor. It wasn’t terrible, but I definitely wouldn’t want anything longer.

I have a 26” .300 and run a pretty light and short suppressor. It’s quite long, but I hunt elk in pretty open country and have not yet found it to be a problem. Given the choice I’d rather have a 22-24” for the .300 WM, but not enough to rebarrel or replace this rifle.

Depends on the terrain mostly. Lots of trees makes it much harder. If its got some good timber and shots wont be more than 400 - 500 yards i take my 270 with a 16” barrel and the suppressor. Normally for western hunting I use my 7 rem mag with a 22” barrel.

You will spend a lot more time holding your rifle as you navigate terrain and trees

Carried my buddy's 28 Nosler last year for 2 days in Montana on an Elk hunt. 26" barrel 7" suppressor. Was the worst experience carrying a rifle I've ever had.
