My vote is 6.5x284

I have the same "problem" right now too. Ruger Hawkeye stainless 30-06. Although, I'm looking at either a 270 or 280. I have a 6x42 Leupold I want to pair it with. Probably I'll go with 270 and a 22.5 - 23 inch barrel.

I think the wife decided on 28 nosler, but who knows that could change today she was talking about 6.5x284 but then said we already have two 6.5 calibers so who knows. I have a 308 I'm going to take apart and build my 325 wsm that I've wanted for a while

If you end up going 28 nosler
Order a barrels lifetime supply of brass while it's available.
Seems like with its popularity its always running out of brass and ammo. Especially around August- November

6.5-284 with Lapua brass is a great round. 6.5-06AI will push 140’s at 3150 as well. 280 AI and 168’s at 2950 is a solid option as well!

28 Nosler is a different animal entirely but then it needs a mag bolt face and then you have the option of a whole slew of magnum calibers... long throated WSM’s, Nosler cases, Winmag, Edge....etc the possibilities are endless

I don't remember seeing the action named so the magnum option may be easy or not.

I just assumed he did not want to mess with the mag. [ but I would have been thinking that rout early]

I don't mind getting a mag bolt face, and mike I've heard great things so I may give you a call and let your work your magic.

I’d definitely go either 280AI or 6.5-284. I went the 280ai route with my long range hunting rifle build.
