Newtosavage
WKR
This has been a fun project, but I've decided to build another one on a short Savage LWS action. I built this .284 Win on a long action to take advantage of the long throated "GAP" reamer, so you can seat long, high BC bullets on out past 3.00"
The action came from a factory new Lightweight Storm in .270. The action and stock are factory original and in excellent shape. The barrel I had made by McGowan to my specs - 21" length, #2 contour with 6 flutes, recessed target crown, matte finish. With the GAP reamer, I can seat my 160 Speers out to 3.04" but you could easily shoot 168+ grainers out of this, seated to 3.10 or even 3.20".
Bare rifle weighs 6 lbs. 3 oz. I have the factory Savage box and never opened the package with the stock spacers so those will be included too.
My next .284 Win build will be a short Savage action with a featherweight barrel. I learned a lot putting this one together. She shoots great. I followed the McGowan barrel break-in to the letter, and immediately shot several sub-MOA groups during load workup.
I'm shooting 160-grain Speers and Hornady's at 2860 over 55 grains of Hunter. I doubt it would be difficult to reach 2900 with 160-class with another powder.
I'll ship this rifle from my FFL to yours for$700 $600 SOLD
*** Also willing to sell the barrel only for $300 *** (Barrel weighs 2 lbs. 5 oz. for reference)
