Any 280 AI loads using the 168 and 175 accubond long range? I've looked at Nosler's site and it has some good information but wanted to see if there were other loads being used. This is for a Christensen Arms Classic Carbon

I used 215m primers, retumbo powder and 168gr long range accubonds seated at SAMMI specs. I can’t remember the powder charge. Will see if I can find it when I get home.

How deep are you seating? I planned to seat about .020 off the lands but I have read the 280ai needs a bit of a jump. How deep are you seating?

I’ve been doing load workup on mine. I have a 26’ 1/9 twist. I tried the ABLR 175’s with 4831sc 10 thousand off. Pretty slow and shot terrible. I think may have hit 2800 FPS but was a grain above book max, worked my way up slight ejector marks. Wasn’t impressed. I tried 162 eldms and 168 vlds. The vlds are my load for now h4831sc, 210 gmm primers, fireformed 280 rem brass. Half moa at 2915, single digit Es and sd. I still want to play with the 165 game changers and maybe the 168 ablr. Also want to try h1000. I think the 160-168 class bullet is the sweet spot for a 1/9 twist 280 ai. Mine also shot the Barnes 140 LRX pretty well.

I would guess the jump has more to do with bullet construction than the cartridge but I’m no expert. Example VLD/match types “usually” prefer to be seated closer, solids usually prefer more (0.050+) jump, ABLR?? Never used them but would guess .020” would be a good place to start. In my 280 AI 168s with R22 was good to me I’ll have to check notes before I say exactly what the load was but accuarate and ok speed at 2875ish so I just left it alone. I’ve read lots of reports of RL26 being a great powder in the 280ai but haven’t had a chance to tinker.

Thanks for the info. I thought I would try what has been exceptional in my 300WM, Alliant 4000-MR.
Have any of you tried that powder with the 160-168 bullets? I'm still waiting on my scope to show up and a good weekend to do some load development. If 4000-MR doesn't work I will try what I have on hand R22, IMR 7828SSC, H4350, H1000......
This might take a while!
