Question for you guys running a 280ai. What projectile are you using and what velocity are you getting? Also what length barrel?

I'll look tomorrow, I've got several loads worked up for mine. Everything from 140gr Sierra GameKings to 145gr LRX and 168 Berger. Might have the data on hand for 162 ELDXs too.

Not pushing any of them too hard, but I think they're all in that 2850-2900 range out of a 26" 1-9 twist barrel. More concerned with accuracy rather than velocity. Gonna play around with some RL26 though and see what I come up with on that for accuracy and velocity.

24" 1:9" barrel with Reloader 26 @ 2920 fps pushing a 160 grain accubond. I have not worked up to pressure with reloader 26 as I was very happy with accuracy (1/2 moa) & consistency. - in the same gun, same bullet I hit 3015fps with reloader 23 before getting a sticky bolt lift and light ejector swipe. Accuracy was around 1 moa.

Yes, I am curious on the velocity while being accurate. I am just trying to get an idea what to expect for down range energy, especially with the heavier rounds.

I am using IMR7828SSC in my 280 AI with a 24" 1-9 twist barrel. I am getting 3230 fps with no pressure signs using 140 gr. Nosler Partitions. I am going to try working with some 140 gr. Accubonds here shortly to see if they shoot as well as the Partitions do.

As much as I hate to evangelize RL26 at a time when I can’t find any in stock, I am shooting 162’s from a regular .280 Model 70 Fwt, 22”
barrel at 2986 fps right at MOA which is as good as this rifle ever shoots. No immediate pressure signs, but I haven’t ascertained brass life yet. I only neck size but I haven’t shot enough to see a primer pocket loosen yet. It’s just a hunting gun so brass life doesn’t matter much to me. Recoil is fierce. I use a 6” Forster drop funnel to get the powder to fit. I know you asked about AI but I figured I’d offer an anecdote for perspective.

4831 with the 168 Berger, and 140 Sierra, 4451 at 2880 for the 145lrx. All shoot better than half minute, the 140 Sierras are better than 1/4 minute.

Oh, and I stocked up on RL26 . Actually went home for the holidays and the store there had it on the shelf. Was tempted to load up even further on it.

55.5 -56.0 grains imr4831 0.05 jump.
2850-2890. Same POI.

Model 70

Hart barrel 9 twist, 25" barrel.

H4831 shoots well but much slower.

Easy 10 shot 1 moa to 300 yds in this rifle.

Was surprised to see 3018 (average 5 shots, 3007-3030) from Nosler factory loads with 160 gr partitions. Cooper M92 24".

I misspoke earlier, mine are out of a 24" barrel, not a 26". I've been looking at rifles lately and forgot what the one I'm actually shooting has lol.

Still doing load work up on mine but I had a node at 60.2 gr of H4381sc with 168 bergers moving at 2900 FPS. 24 inch 8.44 twist proof barrel.

2985 FPS with 61 grains of reloder 26 and a 160 grain accubond. 61.5 gets me over 3000 but was getting pressure signs.

Can’t find any re26 so I’m regrouping and working up a load with re23 and h1000 to see if I can match performance.

I hate running out of powder for a pet load. Never let that happen again.

Accubonds worked just as well with the same load at 3186 fps. That's what I shot my grizzly bear with in Alaska fall of 2019.
