I really want to shoot the Bergers 195 EOL from my 28 Nosler. Has any one done this with a 1:9 twist successfully?
And were speeds still in mid- high 3000's ?

I have Retumbo, N570, 8133, H1000 so I can play a little.

I see Bergers Twist calculator now has it as stable.
I loaded 15 rounds up to start gathering powder data and finding pressure and speeds.

RL33 is money in a 28 nosler with 195s. But you have to have the gun to make it shine. Just sold mine but it was a 26" carbon barreled custom. 3.73 COL, 82.5 grains RL 33, BR2 primers, Nosler brass. 195s, 3150 fps, sub 1/2" MOA. But your not gonna get that with a shorter barrel. The 28 needs a 26" barrel to shine.

Hey thanks for that. I have believed Retumbo likes a longer barrel to be effective, and you results reveal that to be true. My barrel is 24" and hoping to see better speeds with my Retumbo. I expect to have pressure around 82 or less. Thats where I had it with a little lighter bullet.

Yep I agree it wants a longer barrel or a 8 twist to shoot the bigger bullets best. These magnum powders need some time. I don't have the RL powders so I can't speak to that. You sure had that bullet moving out. My expectations are no where near your speeds. I am hoping for half MOA at around 3000.

I have a 22" running rl33 in the bertram brass running the 195 at 2930fps. With the 24" you may be close to 3k fps, but talk to your builder and see what their reamer is set for. Dallas lane built this one for me and I have been happy with it. I am sure there are guys on here with 24's that will chime in.

Thx
I have some test loads loaded and am waiting for weather to clear. Its single digits and expected to drop into negative numbers.
I am also gonna load some of my N570 with these 195's. I'm just not a fan of having to use the highest node, to get a set FPS desired, but I also believe this caliber is ideal with this 195 near 3000 or so.

So I will update todays tests with the 195 Berger EOL's and Retumbo powder and N570

temp-50 degrees
24% humidity
Altitude- 6000'

28 Nosler 1:9 twist 24" barrel
Bertram Brass/Fed215 MG Primers/ Berger 195 EOL
All results with LABRADAR

Retumbo N570
80.0 - 3030 X
80.5 - 3047 3090
81.1 - 3157 HB X
81.5 - X 3136
82.0 - 3140 3150 HB
82.5 - 3156 3168 HB
83.0 - 3172 Didn't try

When I was shooting the smaller ELDX bullets I had a node at 81.3 @3280 fps and 81.7 @ 3300 fps
and a heavy bolt @ 81.5
I don't always trust the heavy bolt as a pressure sign in this Fierce rifle, because when I first got it, I had a heavy bolt all the time. I went to Fierce with rifle and they suggested I use Bertram, which was only brass that didn't give me the HB. But after about 75 shots, that went away and I could use brass I couldn't use prior.

Don't know why the N570 didn't load?

somebody is feeding you a line of shit about a 28 and 195's hitting mid 3000
Not sure what this post even means?
Any way I am happy with the results and get a lower charge and still be above 3000 resulting in enough energy down range at distances I was hoping to reach. The N570 is about 10-15 fps faster than retumbo, with case capacity still under 100%

Looks like some good velocity. What did the target look like? Got a picture of them? My 28 loves the 195s with RL33 at 3070.

No didn't even shoot at a target, accuracy wasn't the concern, Just fps consistency

Like you I read results were all over the place, you needed an 8 twist, 26" barrel etc.
I just needed to know it was doable and so I tried it and was totally surprised with the results. My Fierce rifle is not custom, but my chamber is tight. I have issues with most brass.
Those reported speeds and powder charges are real and labradar indicated.
