Needing some help? Wanting to load 120gr sst in 270win at reduced recoil 2750fps. Can't find any data for this bullet. I know it's made for 6.8 but hornandy loaded it in recoil reduced ammo. Any help appreciated.

Hornady data
110 gr 50.1 gr H4350 -2700
130 hr 49.4 h4350- 2700
Bet the 120 would take about 49.5 to hit 2750

Nosler has 110 grain and 130 grain bullets and they're starting loads are about 2750 to 2800 or so. You can probably split the difference between them to get a starting load for a 120.

I do find disagreement sometimes between hodgdon data and nosler data for example. It's just life as a reloader. I wouldn't make that same assumption comparing a cup and core lead bullet with a monolithic bullet because they're just too different.

2750 is probably a good velocity for an SST. They are not as tough as an interlock. They should do a good job on deer in the 100 to 300 yard range. Just be aware straight through the shoulder shots at very short ranges may cause the bullet to fragment.

And your 270 is one fine 6.8 cartridge!
