I have built another 260 but with a 22" cyro treated carbon wrapped barrel by Chris Reid. Stock is a Mcmillan edge sa on a Trued Remmington action with a fluted bolt and titanim firing pin. Now thats enough about the fairy dust in my build. My real question is can i load this cartrage for both elk and muleys and still have a reasonable 400-500 yard kill zone. I shoot long distance a good bit and know this cartrige very well as far as the ballistics. Just need some sound advise from some of the shooters on here. Have killed both with stick and string.

Hornady lists their 129gr sst load at 1100lbs ft of energy at 500yds out of a 24" barrel. Not saying the sst would be the best bullet, but it looks like the cartridge is capable of 100ft lb of energy out to 500yds.

Find everything written by Pat Sinclair (scenarshooter) on the .260 and go from there. Lotta wisdom in his firsthand experience killing game with the .260.

Sam Millard of Panhandle Precision, and a regular contributor here, shoots both .260 and .260 Terminator for deer. When I emailed him about the
6.5's in general, he said the .260 was good out to 500 yards for deer and loses steam quickly after that.

Here is my new build, unfortunately just week out of shoulder surgery. I'm working up loads now but will have to get a buddy to do the shooting for now.
