Nice, congrats on a great bull! Do you realize the accomplishment you just achieved? Probably in the top all time largest elk taken with a bow, not crossbow, on actual huntable public land in TX...

My dad used to put in for that permit for probably 15 years straight and gave up on it and has since been putting in for another area. Cool place!

Congrats man. Huge West TX bull! I hunt elk in West TX too, and I finally realized a few years ago that they travel in the ravines and dry creek beds to get out of the openness of the West TX landscape. It's amazing how smart these animals are.

After TAC in San Antonio I drove out to the family property to do some maintenance on the homestead and did a little bit of hunting.

Left early Sunday AM and driving out saw three separate cow groups from the road, had to end up stopping on the highway to avoid one of them.

That plus a velvet bull I saw before sunrise made me regret having to live so far away.
