2022 drop hunt with Cole Hawkins

My hunt partner and I returned for a third trip with Cole and were not disappointed.

Saw this bull 3/4 mile away the day we landed. The next morning the wind was wrong to go towards where he had been so we played it safe and went the other direction to call.

About 9:30 I stood up to look downwind. He was 350 out and coming in pissed but spotted me. Didn’t want to take a frontal shot at that distance so dropped out of sight and circled on him. Popped out closer and couldn’t find him!

Barely kept our shit together as we considered that we had missed our one chance. Made another semi-circle and found him broadside at 240 trying to cut our wind. Down in one shot less than 200 yards from where Cole could get the plane. I couldn’t dream of a more perfect hunt.

All true but it was a short pack and they do make a good handle when you're moving the pile around to make sure things cool quickly. They came off before they went in the plane.

Damn nice bull! And a strong packer. I got a 70 incher a few weeks ago and there was no way we were packing a whole leg. I brought a sled so we pulled the legs down.
