So a buddy and I pursued our first Elk this year, and we were able to draw First Rifle for unit 71 Colorado. We are from Michigan so hunting the Mountains was really different but also hooked us. We had a great time even though we did not see one elk. We were finding sign but everything we came across as seemed to be a couple days old.
We are looking to plan another trip for 2018 and was hoping to get some help with a spot. The area we hunted was very wooded, glassing really was not an option. We would like to hunt an area that allows for more glassing and some wilderness if possible.
It does not have to be Colorado but we don't have points to other stats yet and will be non-resident. We still have not decided on Archery or rifle.
