Anybody tried 2" feathers? I'll be shooting about a 175 grain Zwickey. 2" is plenty on my compound with expandable broadheads, but never shot a heavy fixed blade with them. Anyone have any experience with them? If the verdict is no, I'll stick with 4" elliptical or shield cuts.

I shoot 2.5" most of the arrows I use them on are fairly high foc so you want less feather with them. On my real high foc setups I use 3 fletch on not as high foc I use 4 fletch. It's handled some pretty big blades like Simmons with authority even in cross winds

Ditto what the other two posts said. High FOC arrows with large non vented broadheads and i get great flight with 4 fletched 2" razyr feathers.

Thanks guys. That gives me some confidence. Sounded like some of you were straight fletching them? Is that the most common? Anyone else going offset or helical? I've shot offset and helical, but never straight. I'm going to order a dozen 2" today and see how I like them. I planned to 3 fletch, but might do 4 so I don't have to look for a cock feather. Never shot 4 fletch before either.

I’ve been using 2” Razyrs in 4 fletch with a straight clamp and haven’t noticed a difference compared to helical. I went to straight just because the base of the feathers was so inconsistent that getting full contact with helical was a annoying. I ended up discarding a number of feathers. If I stick with short feathers I’ll probably try Truflight next since their quality has always been better.

Have noticed the bases are ground slightly uneven as noted above. Hasn't caused any issues though fletching with a bitz and right helical clamp

Most fletchings don’t have a super even base in my experience. I think the extra hard part with the 2” feathers though, is the fact that they’re 2” and that makes it way harder to put a helical bend in them.

What what it’s worth, the straight 4 fletch flys amazingly well; and as a bonus, it’s easy to fletch and you don’t need to search for a cock feather.

I shoot EFOC arrows with big broadheads and I fletch with a straight clamp with some offset. 2” Rayzrs do fine with my 200-300gr broadheads. Four fletched.

Trueflight has always had more consistent bases than Gateway

I do helical with mine, no different than longer feathers in my experience! I adjust my Bitz to get maximum contact between arrow and feather and get perfect adhesion no matter the quill!

Only difference with the shorter feathers is that you don't get the same amount of helical because they are so short. I am shooting 3D with the 2", but went to 3" for hunting just as an insurance policy on forgiveness and steering a broadhead. IMG_4689.jpg
