2-7x32 for Coyote Hunting?

On my last AR build, I put a 2-7x32 scope on it for a general purpose gun. It’s in 5.56. I’m considering using it this winter for coyote hunting. The farm I hunt could present some shots that would be a max of around 300 yards. Would the 2-7x32 be sufficient or should I step up to something with more magnification?

I use a 2.5 - 8 x 36 on my .223 Kimber Montana for coyote calling and have shot them to 300 yds without issue. And shot a few with a 7mm 08 with a 2-7 on it but shots were under 300. Wouldn’t have an issue going to 350 or 400 with it though.

I find that to be an ideal magnification range on a calling rifle. Used one for years.

I use 1-6x on my calling rifle. It’s an AR in 5.56. Seems like most dogs are killed in that 50-100 range when calling but I’ve made shots to 300 yards with ease. Even killed one at around 400 yards. 2-7x should work well for your situation.

Heck I've got a 2.5x8 on my .300WM.
My favorite is a 1.5x5.
I never understood the Hubble Telescope mentality.

Around here a red dot would be about perfect for most coyotes. That said a 2-7x would be about perfect for 90% of all hunting IMO

I run a TA11 with an offset T2. On hard chargers up close, roll to the T2. For stationary coyotes at a distance, I use the ACOG. For me, it is the perfect setup. I tried a LPVO. Hated it.

2-7 is fine for coyotes, especially if you're calling them in.

On my AR I use a 3-9 with a red dot off to the side.

I use a a vortex razor gen II 1-6. Huge field of view at 1x great light transmission. I set it at 6x most of the time and forget it. I find higher magnification hinders my abilities predator hunting. The only negative to a lower powered scope is shooting groups or working up a load. 2-7 should work fine.

Depends on your eyes, but I'd prefer a bit more magnification.
