Your son looks to be between 9-12 that’s about the time my parents got my brother and I our first pup. It brings back a lot of good memories and made pheasant/ bird hunters out of us for life.

The smile on the kids face says it all. Now get his obedience down pat and your son will have a good friend for years to come

It’s actually his B day present, on Sept. 23… he turns 7. Lol

I grew up in Ontario, OR and we always had a mutt on the farm I considered my bird dog!

How is the pup handling the change? The pup and your son inseperable yet?

Really well… he spends less time on electronics, gets up once at night to let her out of crate. She’s a very smart lil pup! Breeder did excellent job acclimating/playing with them

She’s doing well. Struggle at time with consistency in training, as she’s a family dog as well, not just my bird dog. In the shop there are no rules apparently

Just remember, even if you hunt every day of the season, the dog will still be a pet more of its life than a hunter, good house manners trumps hunting in my eyes. Hopefully your pup can be a star at both

That's fun to see! My wirehair who is two years old wouldn't ever miss bedtime with our kids and loves to snuggle with them, yet is a beast in the field. The progression of the dog and the bond that forms is priceless!

Exactly & Amen! Best Wirehair I ever had, as far as hunting, was a complete asshole the other 8 months of the year!!!!

Tilly is becoming quite the son’s best friend!

Amen. Being able to actually live with the dog is a good thing. Plus, it's really enjoyable to take a well behaved dog out in public. People will always compliment on how well behaved a dog is.
