This is as nice a Marlin 336 as I have seen in the wild. Gun is legitimately a 9 in my estimation. 20" bbl, bluing is in excellent shape with the just the slightest hint of wear on the loading gate. Bolt, bolt face, and bore are all bright and shiny. Marlin bullseye is intact, stock finish is excellent. There is one indentation on the loading (right) side of the butt stock that appears to be a safe ding, no finish cracking.
I did scope the gun and removed the rear buckhorn sight which I still have including the elevator and will provide with the rifle. The hammer extension is an Uncle Mikes and is the only non-original part. Gun currently wears a Vortex Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32 with G4 reticle that has never seen the field.
I traded for this gun from an older gentleman and he showed me the original handwritten receipt for this gun and a single box of ammo which he proceeded to produce from the back of his truck and it had 4 rounds missing! I've never fired this gun...just been in the safe.
