I have searched and found some favorable reports from people I'd likely trust their experience on, but how about some more reports?

How has your experience been with berger 185 juggernauts (or otm tactical because it's same bullet) on elk?

I killed a bull at 350y 7 years ago with 185vld from a 300wsm traveling at 3100mv. Quartered away, entered 3 ribs behind shoulder destroyed all key vitals, heart was gone. Dropped instantly. My only report on elk. These two bullets are slightly different, but I know they're exceptionally accurate. Bearing surface is very short so would advise a short throat chamber.

@Formidilosus has recently commented that the Hybrid OTMs have thicker jackets than the VLDs or Elite hunters, and should be kept north of 2k impact velocity for reliable expansion. North of 2k they should expand and act like other bergers.

The 185gr Juggernaut is a great bullet and it performs terminally very well. All the thick jacketed Bergers will penetrate a bit deeper before upsetting and need a bit more impact velocity to upset. slowelk is correct- 2,050fps and above impact velocity is where consistent bullet upset occurs.

Resurrecting and old thread but curious if @Formidilosus or @Ryan Avery thinks cutting a nose ring on the Juggs would help terminally and extend minimum velocity needs. If so how many thousandth is suggested?

Thanks,
