If you're open to used options, Meopta S2 (or the cabelas or nightforce versions) is a high-quality option that pops up in that price range. It's heavy, but for a truck spotter the performance is on par with the alpha brands.

I was not a fan of my athlon ares 65, but I don't have any experience with the cronus.

I won this 80mm spotter in a raffle. It’s definitely legit for the money. But I don’t use angled. I’ll sell it for $375 shipped if you want a deal.

Nixon 82ed series is one of the best, bang for your buck, used scopes. Image is phenomenal. Downside is they are heavy
