Success rate can be deceiving, it is relative to access - generally speaking, the worse the access is, the more successful the folks with access are going to be. If I was choosing a new area it would have:
Lots of public land
Good access through the private land up to the public land
Minimal...
This resonates with me. I like high altitude, dark timber and treeline. F%$k those scrub oaks. And defintely stick with a unit, your knowledge doubles at least, for every year you hunt a unit.
