I’m a little embarrassed to post this, but the crack was caused from the rifle falling from a tree stand. I thought I had attached it to the pull up rope to lower it with my pack but apparently I didn’t clip it right. When I went to let it down all I was left with was the rope in my hand...
I was worried that a repair might not be strong enough while shooting. It’s a 30-06 but it appears many of you have repaired rifles and went on to shoot them without any issues.
A little late to the party here but does the initial accent have a good “sticky” lumbar pad. Like others have stated, I have no butt and a bit of a spare tire so I struggle with packs slipping down.
I have a stainless Ruger Hawkeye in 6.5 creedmoor. It has a 26” barrel. Would buying lightweight stock and having the barrel cut down so much or be cost effective? I guess I have lots of research to do.
Maybe sell some and keep a little to hopefully keep growing. As someone who is getting a little age on them, I’m starting to look back at all the things I wish I would have done when I was a little younger. Don’t let the opportunity pass you by if you can financially swing it without taking away...
I have an older Ruger M77, early 90’s model, that I’ve cracked the stock on. It cracked right behind the bolt on one side. The rifle has some sentimental value to me as it’s the first new rifle I ever purchased. Plus, it has a pretty tigers stripe pattern in the wood.
Has anyone had any luck...
I’m from the Upstate of SC as well. Neither of my kids got into Hunting. My daughter, now 20, went a handful of times with me. She as admitted she went because she wanted to spend time with me not because she loves hunting. She likes to back pack and camp so we try and do that together.

I did a quick search a Tikka is mentioned a lot. I’ve toyed around with maybe having the barrel cut down on my ruger and maybe buying a lighter stock but with all that I’m probably better off buying a different rifle.
I’m looking for recommendations on a lightweight 6.5 Creedmoor for taking out West. I’ve never hunted out West but my 26” barrel SS synthetic Ruger Hawkeye is big and heavy so I’m looking for something a little more manageable in the mountains. I’ll na a newbie to mountain hunting.
Hey Bryan, I’m an FNG from SC. Clemson to be exact. I have some family and friends that are big Dawg fans. I was born and raised in Clemson, so I’m a big Tiger fan We’ve backed doored our way into the Playoffs. We’ll see how that goes.
I’m interested In doing some hunting out West, that’s what...
I’ve been a lurker for many years. Finally bit the bullet and created an account. I’m from the Upstate of SC and wanting to go out Wrst and hunt. Hopefully I can learn a few things on here.
