Do your research before joining "sportsmens conservation" type groups...

Well ,I joined BHA and cancelled and might join again.I cannot find an organization that suites my ideals well.I treasure the backcountry, and I would like to find a group that is more neutral politically..at the same time that has an agenda to preserve what is left of the wild country for...

How do you deal with family and their thoughts on hunting

I find serious hunting is better on your own anyways.No one to object to anything and all your annoying habits seem to evaporate.Cheers

Has western hunting become a wealthy man's sport?

I dunno, I can hunt from home, wear wools, 25 year old rifle, packboard is 30 years old.horses are old, the gear ancient.Its still an adventure.

Looking for lightweight elk rifle

Everyone needs a levergun..mine is a blr takedown.It is a 270 win shortened to 38 1/2 " , with a 19" barrel.The 7mm/08 is a great choice too.The bullet choice is more important than the headstamp.

25-06?

I am a 270 user..for decades but I use the 25/06 as well.My 25/06 is even easier to shoot that the 270's...a little more accurate .Have used this on elk and moose ...use a good bullet.The only detractor is the longer than 22"barrel.
