Northern Nevada Chukar / Huns (Elkoish)

It really is. It’s one big puzzle and you gotta figure it out. The birds are just a byproduct of the whole experience really. The dog working and the scenery are what do it for me. Another big thing I learned was I brought WAY too much stuff. I used half the amount of water I thought I would...

Northern Nevada Chukar / Huns (Elkoish)

It was a learning experience but I’ll probably be back next month for more. The day of the drive up I ended up at my second pin after seeing a covey of Huns leaving a spring. The first walk out (2 hours) I saw nada, I heard a lot of birds but came back with nothing but a dog with tore up pads...

Northern Nevada Chukar / Huns (Elkoish)

Awesome I appreciate all the replies and PMs. I think I’ve got enough info now to kind of illustrate what I’ll need to be looking out for with boots on the ground and on OnX. Would it be appropriate to report back on my experience on this thread? ( I am new here )

Northern Nevada Chukar / Huns (Elkoish)

Ok very cool! Thank you. Did you happen to notice any flora or geographical features such as rocky ridges, canyons, or sage / cheat grass in combination with the water to produce more or less numbers in your experience? Thank you again.

    Arizona quail 2024-2025

No kidding. There are some low elevation pockets outside the valley where it actually stays pretty cool. Also with that being said I’ll be in Northern Nevada for this opener lol.

Northern Nevada Chukar / Huns (Elkoish)

So I am headed to northern Nevada (in the round about areas of Elko) for my very first Chucker / Hun hunt. I’ll be solo with my GSP, dispersed camping so I won’t be tied down to any one area. I’am not looking for spots pins or coordinates of where to hunt, but I was curious about the terrain...

    Arizona quail 2024-2025

Morning hunts. I’ll hunt until it reaches 68-70 degrees then it’s time to pack up. Also Rattlesnake Ready here in Phoenix offers Rattlesnake aversion training if you haven’t done it yet, do it. Book early their scheduling can be tight this time of year. Early season think “desert meets...

    Looking for used bird launcher

Awesome little pup. For what it’s worth my trainer is always cursing his DT Launchers. He says they don’t want to connect to the transmitter quite often and swears he’ll move to a Dogtra system next time around. Remember Black Friday is just around the corner 👀

    AZ Dove hunting

Did you end up getting out for some dove? We also have a second dove season in November if you didn’t. I've hunted Wellton Tacna (East - outside Yuma) area for years You don’t have to go out to Yuma for dove. We have plenty of areas here locally that produce great numbers. OnX can help out...
