Got a like new Oregon Gunsmithing (Wayne York) hinged metal floorplate, magazine and follower for a Howa Mini in 6 ARC, 6.5 Grendel. I m a newer member of Rokslide but you can find trading history on me on LRH and Accurate Shooter.
$150 TYD in continental US. Thx!
I tried a lot of bullets and would go from sub moa to over moa on lots of them. I think part of it is the Howa mini is so light and narrow that it’s hard to shoot accurately.
That said the most consistent accuracy bullet was Berger 95 Classic Hunter… I m just cheap and like a little less...
Thx for update. I ve yet to try in 6 CM but I ve shot about a dozen in my 6 ARC with 4 different seating depths and all same powder charge so far. Nothing has jumped out as really good… mostly 1”+ but the bullet is giving me 3000 fps in my 22” mini with 29.5 grs of TAC. That same powder charge...
Work up watching for pressure as each rifle is it s own master but if you can work from about 56-57.5 grs of H 4350 (IMR would be similar) with a 165 gr bullet you won’t have long to find a 3/4” or better moa load provided your rifle/scope is capable of such.
Good Luck
Anyone been doing load development/shooting with their 6 CM and the new Hor 80 gr Eld VT? Is so mind sharing details to accuracy, velocity, OAL, twist, powder/charge weights, etc ??
Thx
Harvey_NW , you re exactly right about new rifles needing 150-200 rounds to get their barrel seasoned in and for velocity to “quit” increasing.
Can t tell you how many guys I know and/or have heard about that “work up a great load for their new rifle” and then 6-7 boxes later are popping...
The old cartridges perform admirably; where a new cartridge can be a benefit, at least to some degree, is if you are wanting to shoot the absolute longest, highest bc bullet out there today and then the new, whiz bangs most likely have a faster twist barrel. This is usually more for ultra long...
Good advice here. And I would also say give the 06 based cases some serious consideration. 30-06, 280 or 270 will all 3 handle NA hunting for you with appropriate bullet selection. As others have mentioned you ll get less recoil, easier to find shells and components, etc. One other thing, you...
Since you mention Oct 18 to Oct 28 I would only point out that the difference in weather and precipitation between those extremes could change quite a bit; thus you might have to adjust how and where you hunt “on the fly” … good luck
I m old enough to have seen and witnessed dramatic improvement in many medical procedures.
The eye surgeries, joint replacements, etc have came so far; even in the past 4-5 years there’s leaps and bounds of improvement.
No flies on the old 1962 7RM cartridge.
Companies doing lots of promoting and sales work to keep ID Sales going and growing. If you have a 7RM you don’t need a 7 PRC, ditto on 300 WM vs 300 PRC. If you “want one”, get it but you “don’t NEED one”!! Like most things in life.
