    Day hunt vs backpack hunt

    I'm normally prefer day hunts or overnights with a camp on my back. Water availability is an issue in most of the country I hunt. Hauling in substantial water gets heavy really quick.

    Coues deer optics

    I still primarily use 10x50 Leica Ultravids on a tripod for 90% of my bino spotting for coues. I always liked the field of view over the higher power binos. If you're packing in, one of the new compact spotters would be great but not needed in my opinion. Have fun chasing those coues...it's...

    Tripod head recommendations

    I’m partial to the Jim White head. Still have 2 that I bought from Jim around 2007. Not sure they are made anymore after Jim’s passing. Might find a used one with some extra plates come through the classifieds.

    7 SAUM bullet recommendations

    Current load is Norma brass, Fed 210M and 59.5gr H4831SC although I'm shooting a 24" barrel. Original load was the same charge weight but with CCI250s. I found I had more consistent groups with the 210Ms with no significant change in velocity.

    Have not found another 7SAUM combo that kills or shoots as well as for me than the 175 Elite Hunter and H4831SC. I don’t push them particularly hard (2858fps) out of my gun.
