I can't. Still an FNG. I don't have any specific unit I am looking at right now though, just looking generally on the west side. I have relatives that live out in Port Angeles so loosely north or west of Olympic. I just don't know how his much to factor in all that private forest land. Do some...

Because the ATF can't make up their mind on pistol braces. Because I don't own one. Because I can use a shotgun for turkey and pheasant and waterfowl. I have seen folks do that here with kids. An AR in either 223/5.56 or 6.5 Grendel. It works. I have eaten the proof. lol It is hard for the...

If only MN would get off their shotgun requirement in the Southern half of the state. Or is really hard to introduce the kids to hunting with that, even with a 20 gauge. Sold off the 12 gauge slug gun a could years ago for a Savage 220, but it is hard to get the kids enough range time to be...

One other option that all you Westerners aren't pointing out are straight walled options like the 350 Legend, especially if folks are hunting out East where they are required, or in the shrubbery. Very little recoil. Short barrels are typical. Makes them another handy little option.

    Electrical Tape on Muzzle?

I see I didn't indicate this in my original post, but I was talking about a muzzleloader primer. That Markron product looks a little permanent to use on an online muzzleloader primer.

Well, so much for the excitement!

Agreed with other posters. 777 will be just fine. If you are out on an extended day if shooting bring dune patches and a bore brush. I get a little build up after multiple shots, but a pass or two with the brush or bore snake and about two patches cleans the barrel up good as new.

    First Muzzleloader Concerns and Tips

You need to use a standard primers for BH209, not those that are lower output. You can think of it as standard output and low output. The latter are preferred for powder such as 777 to minimize development if a crud ring in the barrel. If you don't use the standard primers you might experience...

How busy is the West side during elk muzzleloader season? I have family that live or there and have considered going out, but the time that would work best is around early October muzzleloader season.

    Electrical Tape on Muzzle?

For anyone that hunts in wet conditions like Western Washington, do you do anything to seal the primer better? I think I read once that some people put a little Vasoline or chapstick around the outside of the primer to keep water out of the breech. Is that necessary? Does something what with...

    First Muzzleloader Concerns and Tips

I have an Optima as well and like it. I have managed 1.5 MOA with a number of different bullets using pellets. Some folks don't like the newer style Palmsaver ramrod and go with an after market option like the giramrod. Make sure you get the Blackhorn breech plug if you are shooting BH209...

    Riflescope Sunshade Yes or No?

Down Under Outdoors also makes a cheap silicon one you can slip on your scope. It isn't very deep, but it's easy to slap on when you need it. Scope doesn't need to be threaded for a shade either.
