.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I wonder if there are any other threads in this site with 420 pages.... Can't wait to try out 77, 75, and 73gr on critters! Season can't get here fast enough

I love that round out of the blackout. Damage is amazing on organs but meat damage is almost none. I have a hard time switching from that around here cuz I have yet to shoot a deer past 100 yards

Why no 5-round Grendel/ARC AICS mags? (Long .223 either)

I do wonder how it's possible that the accurate mags are only 2.325 when the mdt poly mags run out past 2.5 in a standard aics foot print. I hope we get someone with one to see this and say if that 2.3 is correct or an undersell

Man the new episode of the hornady podcast is trash. They have some good info in there such as how their bullets work - VELOCITY and they give numbers for eldx, cx, and one other one - and not energy. Way too much fudd lore with magnum or bust. If it kills a deer it'll kill and elk. There is no...

So, you went smaller caliber, but not down to .223…

12ga with 1oz slugs to 20ga with 3/4oz slugs. Then we went back up to 30-06 shooting 165-180s and then down go 300blk with 110s. Now it'll be the 223 with 73eldms. Might still use the 300 for close range with solids for less meat damage when I'm hunting at home.

Does the 223/6mm for everything change when hunt cost $$$

Whoa whoa whoa man. I'm gonna have to stop you right there incase no one else has.... It was Flavor Aid and not kool-aid. Let's keep to the facts when talking about killing /s (/s means sarcasm incase anyone doesn't know, it's a bad joke some won't find funny)

This makes me think that with them loaded long in an mdt poly mag and a 6.5 or 7 kreig at 26" I might be able to get 2750 with a standard.... My god the temptation...

Because that "true knock down power" rattles your brain into making comments like this.

I think it was about 100 pages back a guy in alaska(?) took a moose with them. That was all I needed to decide it's my new go to with my bolt gun. The 77s will be for my gassers

Like I said to gwak, it certs for free bullets off prs prize tables lol. I know they expect you to use them for prs but also.... That's a few years of hunting bullets when it only takes 100 of them a year! 99 for sighting and practice with them and one for deer.

Shhhh the secret is picking up certs for Sierra bullets at the prize table at prs matches.

I have 500 77gr tmks on the way and a spare 223 upper that I've never used. An older bush master carbon 15 upper, so we will see how it does with them. If it doesn't give me sub moa bench accuracy I'll be turning it into a 22 arc and using them with that. Just another project for this winter

I was going to build a grendel until I found this thread. It would still be my go to if 223 wasn't legal here. I forget where but I found a grendel animal kill thread similar to this one that was a good resource.

From my understanding, which is limited, the 22 creedmoor should do that. But we need to be honest with our selves on the ranges we can shoot and make ethical hits. I do a lot of shooting out to 600 yards shooting PRS, a few further, and I don't have the skill to shoot an animal that far. A...

WI FNG trapped by the @*#$ 223 thread

Well, another victim of the almighty 223 thread here. I've visited the site looking at stuff off and on for a few years but never joined as I always found answers and didn't need to ask anything new... Then came the 223 thread into my life. I shoot a 223 in PRS and saw reference to this...

Well it only took me a month to read, is the reason I joined the site, and is still boggling my mind. I know it works and can see it but will continue to question until I go do it(but thats just a character flaw I have in regards to anything, I need to see results first hand to truly accept and...
