    Hunting Public Land

    When to add a second dog?

    Good looking dogs! This is the first year in a long time I'm going into a season without a bird dog. Now that my kids are getting bigger and not in diapers I can promise that I'll be on the new pup every 5 year plan.

    I'm down my hunting dog this year which sucks. I'll probably do a few upland trips early season with friends and fam then switch my focus to deer until late season ducks. Looking to upgrade either my sticks or saddle this year but can't justify both.

    Mineral oil works for me too. Carbon steel japanese kitchen knives to tool steel. A little dab goes a long way.
