    Do you take a backup rifle on hunts?

    Not worried about ammo availability, but a backup scope is a great idea. Some fart smellers around here. Obviously I’m not one of them since that didn’t occur to me.

    Need New Gaiters

    I’m sold on the OR gaiters. Seems like my feet get hot more from the type of boots I’m wearing than the gaiters. Everybody’s different. Considering a pair of kenetrek for the quiet factor through brush. but sounds like the quiet ones are only for country without burrs.

    Exo K4 3600 or 5000

    Agree 5000. As small as they pack down I almost wish I’d got the 7k for the longer trips of 5+ days. My gear isn’t all the smallest lightest stuff.

    Do you trust the MSR Dromlite, or is there a better lightweight option?

    My old red 4L Drom lite pack is finally giving up the ghost after 12 year. About 7 of those were daily use year round. Was about to buy one of the new clear looking ones but maybe not now. Bummer.

    October mule deer

    Savage Model 42

    Anyone have experience with the Savage model 42 410/22LR combo? Seen the Chiapas (spelling?) too but never heard of that make. Any info on reliability or other suggestions on a 410/22LR combo would be appreciated.
