What gives you the right to put up trail cameras on public land?
This isn’t about fair chase. It isn’t about whether or not I want to use trail cameras. It’s about how some people want to utilize public land as if it was their own private land.

Because no Republican ever wanted to ban immoral behavior? The name calling acts as an admission that your position is no stronger than anyone else’s opinion as to what constitutes fair chase.
And, for the record, I don’t think the state has any business in regulating fair chase. All the...
From my perspective, the problem with cameras is not that they allow one to find “the best bucks.” I’m not in competition with other hunters for who has the nicest trophy on the wall. I like to “hunt.” I hunt because there’s something deeply satisfying, on a primal level, about the experience of...
I don’t mind how you hunt on your land. That’s your business. Means and methods should be almost entirely up to the hunter on private land.
This topic is about public land. That’s an entirely different thing.

For me, it all comes down to “hunting” versus “killing.” If I use a camera to tell me exactly where the deer is before I enter the woods, then I might as well walk out into the pasture and shoot one of my cows. Or go shoot at a cardboard cutout and then go buy a steak. Too much of “hunting” has...
Interesting. But again, I don’t know how many thousand of these have been sold and how many failures have occurred. I just wouldn’t call two posts about failures out of several hundred posts a lot. There’s just not enough information to make a determination.

Two failures mentioned in 694 posts does seem a bit concerning. Not sure what an acceptable failure rate is for something like this.

Does anyone happen to know which cerakote finish best matches the Scythe Ti? I am ordering a new barrel and I figure I might as well try to match it.

That’s a fair perspective. My brother hunts them for the meat. And it’s far better to do that than to see them mowed down by minivans and rotting on the side of the road.
On my farm, I don’t care whether it’s a three pointer or a twelve pointer. If it has antlers, I am going to eat it...
I’ve got my Scythe Ti in hand, but my CZ 527 is not ready yet (I ordered a threaded barrel from Pac-Not, but that will take a while).
Can someone post up a decent recording of a center fire rifle firing unsuppressed, suppressed supersonic, and suppressed subsonic using the Scythe Ti, please...
For what it’s worth, I am brand loyal to SGK’s, so they are my first choice for cup-and-core bullets. If I needed bullets for a rifle, and I could not get SGK’s, I would happily buy the Hornady Interlocks.
My number one requirement for each rifle I own is to have at least 200 rounds of factory...
I made this one up last night.
Stone soup with Venison
2 pounds venison stew meat, trim off excess fat and feed to man’s best friend
1 ham hock (trim off excess fat and discard, slice all meat into small cubes)
1 head cabbage diced
2 onions diced
2 bunches celery chopped
1 bag baby carrots...
Recommendations as to which one would be useful? I don’t want a piece of junk, but I also don’t want to break the bank.

Is a suppressor cover essential for a hunting rifle? I am still waiting on my Scythe, so I haven’t tried it yet. I am not interested in being tactical or camouflaged. I just want to know if I am going to need a cover for a suppressor if I rarely expect to fire more than a few 5-shot groups to...
I read that entire thread before I used them for my first purchase (two Banish 22’s).
With Silencer Central, I started the process July 12, added a couple of weeks of my own delay due to moving and needing to get the fingerprint cards back to them, and expect my suppressors delivered to my...
But why? I can read lots of people saying, “don’t use Silencer Central!” But I never see specifics. I used them for my first purchase. They have been a bit slow, but at the time I didn’t have an easier option nearby.

The Kershaw Folding Field knife is the best hunting knife I’ve ever owned. It’s a good size, holds a superb edge, and is very rugged. Used properly, it can easily break the pelvic arch on even the largest whitetails. The relatively heavy brass pommel provides a good surface for pushing.
