Short range optic for heavy woods whitetail

Thanks for all the input everyone. I currently have a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42 on my 6.5 PRC. I shot a deer with it this year from a tree saddle in the open at about 175 yard around 10 minutes after sunset. While it worked fine I wouldn't want less light gathering than what I experienced during...

Short range optic for heavy woods whitetail

Hi all! I recently built a full custom 6.5 PRC that is amazing and is now the only rifle I want to shoot long range. I have a Weatherby Vanguard in 308 that I am thinking will become a short range deer rifle. I hunt a lot of thick swamps, tamarack woods, cattails in northern WI and MN. This...

Do I need a case tumbler?

Hello! I'm getting started reloading. So far I've acquired most of what I need to get going but looking into case cleaning. Do I need a case tumbler to get started? I'm not against spending the money on one if it makes a big difference. Can I clean cases by hand with a simple IPA bath or...

    Lightweight wind resistance fabric

I wouldn't worry about wind resistance for a base layer. Base layers help manage moisture and add extra insulation. Your mid layer to some extent and really your exterior layers are where you want wind resistance. In order for a base layer to move moisture away from your skin, it needs to breath...

Does Loctite alter torque on scope rings

So you not only followed their thread locker recommendation, but also torqued 10in/lbs less than their recommended torque. I think the scope should also be checked to ensure the tube is within stated diameter and roundness. If that comes out normal I would say Warne owes you new rings and a scope.

Does Loctite alter torque on scope rings

I can't really see how loctite could cause that big a discrepancy in torque. It almost looks like the rings are not concentric and undersized. In your photo measuring the rings you can see where the coating on the rings was discolored from the contact with the scope tube. This appears to be a...

How to get started in Reloading?

Thanks for the replys. Im really just looking to get decent ammo. I think the idea of loading your own ammo is cool and it would be rewarding to fill a tag with ammo I made. I also have a lot of brass hanging around it would be nice to get use out of. I'll definitely buy a manual and read up...

How to get started in Reloading?

Hello! I want to start reloading. Ive been saving factory brass for my 308 and 6.5 PRC. There is a lot of information on the google about what equipment to start with and such. How do I choose equipment that will last me and help me get started? I'm surprised there isn't a pinned post here with...

NF SHV 4-14x50 vs Trijicon Credo HX 2.5-15x42

Hello! I need help deciding on glass for my new rifle build. A little background: the use case for this rifle is general purpose western hunting. I hunt spring bear and mountain mule deer. I live in WI and only have access to a range that goes to 500yds, so I don't do super long range stuff. I...
