    Preferred Primer for Blackhorn 209

Another vote for Federal 209A primers. Work very well at all temps for me.

I looked on Norma’s website, they still list them. They’re just not in stock. Good luck, Tom

.270 on whitetail - short range

I realize this is a 4 year old thread, however Remington 150gr RN CoreLokts were what I started with in 270. Never failed to kill quickly and exited better than 90% of the time. Very reliable, 20 feet to 275 yards. Just my observations. I hope you found a winner for your setup.

Talk me out of a straight spotting scope.

I have and use a Leupold straight spotter. I tried using the angled spotters, bothers my neck after 5-10 min.

The best all around 243 bullet

I have shot 20 deer with 243 Win. My preferred is the Barnes 80 TTSX. Second choice is the 95gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. I’m a meat hunter mostly and the Barnes gives less bloodshot meat. The Nosler gives shorter trail jobs on average.

    243 Norma Oryx

Hey, I was recently gifted several boxes of 243 Oryx bullets. Would these be worth hunting normal game animals(ie: deer, bear, hog)? Or are they too tough? Any recommendations for powders? I do hand load so that’s not an issue. Anyone have any experience with these bullets? Thanks, Tom

What to do with a Rem 7600

I agree with the others. Trip it to someone who will shoot/collect it. Their value is at an all time high. Very serviceable hunting guns if you want to keep it. Good luck, Tom
