It is probably safe BUT I would not shoot it. It is not worth further damaging the stock or you. Send the pictures to Pure Precision and see what they say and ask about returning it for repair. It could be that the pillars are AFU.
How much did you torque the action screws? You should get a...
What about rebarrelling one you already have? You get to pick the components you prefer in the configuration that fits you. I have done that with many Remington 600s and 700s over the years. $3K would be a great budget and you can probably do it for less.
When I bed my own, I do all the prep work and assembly prior to dinner then pull it apart in the morning. It gives the epoxy plenty of time to cure. It is a pretty easy job really. IMO, a week turnaround is the most expeditious timeframe. Realistically a month. Call Roger and ask him.
@KenLee I picked up another V4 early Monday morning when Cabela's uploaded some cyber Monday deals. I got a V4 4-16x44 with the #64 reticle for $577 shipped to my house.
They fixed it. I just had to pay. I did and then sold it. NF are good scopes but like any optic, there can be failures. The CS/lack of warranty is the reason I will not buy another.
It is all good. No concerns about confrontation on my part, just a good conversation.
I think you and I somewhat agree, especially on the singular purpose - steering the bullet to the target. Holding zero is another way to say it. I do not dial on my hunting rigs if it takes me a couple of...
Yes and no. The bolded one is a given and is the aiming device's intended use. It is not an option. After the "given" some want light weight, others want a certain reticle, or illumination, or exposed turrets. I want low light performance as my number 1 priority (aka option) for hunting...
It is sad. A young man lost his life but was doing what he enjoyed. He miscalculated his abilities or fell (the broken nose) and could not self evacuate. We all took chances and survived similar incidents whether it be hiking, driving cars too fast, or any number of adrenalin inducing...
It looks like you found the issue. Bipods are great but they can highlight weak stocks or bedding issues. Try flexing a Ruger American stock some time...
Something must be wrong with the scope because my #1 priority is always low light performance. My V4s are good. Just last weekend, I had a small buck come past my stand before legal shooting light. He was just a blob of lighter color in the woods. I was not sure if it was an animal or bush...
Look at different manufacturers and their reticles to see what you like and what is in your budget. Meopta would be the first place I look then probably Steiner, Athlon then Vortex. If your budget is on the higher end Zeiss, Swarovski, Kahles are all good ones. To me it would come down to...
Georgia is easy. Roger Ferrell in Fayetteville. He has built me a couple of rifles in the past and is working on a 338Fed for me right now. He has bedded rifles, threaded barrels and built complete rifles for me. He does quality work. About the only thing he does not do is bluing or...
I will not weigh in on the law for SBRs. I do have an opinion on cartridge. Are you wanting to hunt with subsonic rounds or supersonic? If sub, then the 300BO would be king with Hornady 190SubX. The 338ARC might be better but components and ammo are had to find at this point. If supersonic...
I tried once. I had a NXS 2.5-10 that quit tracking. It had been on a 243, 7mm-08 and a 6.5CM. I sent it in per their instructions. They denied the claim saying that the scope rings had been over torqued. I always mount my own scopes using quality rings and use a torque driver. There were...
I have a V4 6-24 on a long range 223, a 4-16 on a 6.5 CM. Not once have I had to rezero. Both get dialed out to 900 yards and back MANY times. They always work! I love the V4s. I also have a couple Swaro Z3s on a 7mm08 and a 338Fed. They don’t get dialed but always hold zero. I do not...
I am thrilled with my Resilient Jolene S. I also have a DD Enticer STi and a DTF 8.6 STi as well. DD is about 19 weeks out if you order one. They might be in stock somewhere though.
I have a Resilient Jolene S on my 300BO but have switched it to my 22" and 26" 6.5CMs. It is quiet and is light but is a bit longer than you want. I can deal with a little length but despise weight. It is in stock at Silencer Shop too. You will not be disappointed in this one.
Jolene S
Federal Fusion are some of the most accurate and deadliest bullets available. They are now making a Tipped Fusion which should be even better. If you cannot find them, the Federal blue box is a close second.
Make sure the chamber is clean and dry. Also, if this continues you may have a primary extraction issue. I recently had new (old stock) Remington that need to be sent back for repairs.
I have the MOA reticle and while it is a bit heavier than my Zeiss 6-24, it is useable at the max magnification. I am not a competition shooter, just shooting for fun.
