    Whats missing on your bench?

I guess I need to start shooting more so I can justify upgrading from my Chargemaster 😂 For high volume I can see an autotrickler being worth its weight in gold for time savings.

    300wsm vs 7prc vs 7rem mag?

I’ve got a Seekins 7 rem mag and am incredibly happy with it. Shooting sub 5 inch groups at 1000 yards with that rifle and hand loads. It’s got an 8 twist barrel and it looks like they’ve pushed the throat out a bit too. PRC same thing to me… differences with the 7 mag are insignificant in a...

    Reloading Bench Layout

^^^^^ this (IDShanes bench) is really nice, organized and clean. Great lighting. Benches with tons of tools and stuff, even if it’s organized, drive me nuts. I’ve had benches like that and I just like it simple and clean. The more space I have the more I clutter. I like doing an operation and...

    Whats missing on your bench?

thinking about it more, the latest reloading bench I made was smaller, has drawers instead of shelves, and I stand up while I reload. And the drawers let me be more organized than anything I’ve built/used in the past. One thing I hated was how much space the stupid green die boxes took up. So...

    Whats missing on your bench?

I have everything I need to make 1/4 minute ammo. Rcbs press, Rcbs charge master, Wilson case trimmer. Rcbs hand priming tool. Redding dies. Custom made annealing machine Mitumoyo calipers… nothing fancy but it’s worked for a long time and will keep on working. Quality rifles/optics and enough...

    FNG - Colorado

We certainly have a lot of space out here. We have some property that we can shoot across a canyon out to about 400 yards, then hop over the back side and access 100,000 acres of BLM and shoot coyotes and rocks as far as we can see.

    FNG - Colorado

I’ve never shot there, I live on the front range about 45 minutes. Forth of Denver… but that’s pretty close to where have done a lot of hunting in the Grand Mesa. I mostly shoot my rifles at the Colorado Rifle Club out in Byers (Eastern CO).

    FNG - Colorado

I left California to get away from all the @$$hat blue haired Karen’s and now they’re ruining this state. I’m sure some major TDS going on in Denver and Boulder today though 😂.

    FNG - Colorado

Finally signed up for an account. Born on the coast in California, grew up fishing and scuba diving, taught myself spear fishing (free diving) in high school since surfing was too slow. Started hunting elk in Colorado in the mid 90’s and was hooked. Traded the ocean for the mountains and...

New BGSS CPW Administrative Topics & Staff Recommendations

That’s the challenge. Colorado is a beautiful state. I certainly understand the frustration, and my wife and I have talked about moving. But why should we be the ones running away? I at least want to try pushing back and lots of the groups like Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management and...

    Toughest hunt of your life?

Most physically challenging was a solo rifle elk hunt back in 2018 deep in Colorado’s biggest wilderness. Killed a big bodied 6x6 just after a snow storm passed about 12 miles from the truck. Packed it all out solo including the hide for a shoulder mount. About 85 miles total to get everything...

    44 magnum barrel 4 vs 6 inches

I split the difference and ordered a Ruger Redhawk with a 5” barrel. I guess maybe it’s 5.5”, either way I love it. I reload my 44 ammo since I don’t shoot handguns that much, and you could always go with a 4” barrel and use a faster powder. My favorite is A2400 seems to be a good compromise...

    Working out.

That does sound like an excellent program! Great blend of strength and cardio. Also, on the carbs/protein/fats discussion for food you bring on your actual hunt, one thing to consider is if altitude sickness may come in to play. I’ve never had an issue with it and live in Colorado, but have...

What do you consider a "chip shot"

In good conditions 500 yards and under for me personally. I didn’t read all the posts but a thread like this always gets spicy. The reality is hunting is wild in nature and nothing is guaranteed whether you’re using a rifle or a bow. I know great hunters who have messed up “close” shots with...

Colorado 2025-2029 Big Game Season Structure

Agree… last year I burned 15 points on a 3rd season buck tag in a great unit, hunted hard for 7 days, and only saw a handful of bucks, most were dinkers with a few young 4x4’s. I didn’t see anything even close to a 160 let alone 180+.

Colorado 2025-2029 Big Game Season Structure

I know the CPW’s goal, at least for elk tags, is to make people choose between getting a preference point or getting a tag. Go look at tag allocations in several of the units that were OTC and changed to draw units, and compare the 1st draw year to where they are now. They started very high and...
