I liked and wanted to use the Talley rings, but I went with a small and light weight scope. The Talley’s did not give me enough room to set eye relief. I ended up going with a pic rail and Vortex rings.
Box of 100 143 grain ELDX 6.5mm. I opened the box, but decided to go with something different for reloading. All 100 are still in the box. $40 shipped.
Talley lightweight rings for a Weatherby Vanguard. 1”, black, medium height, extended model for adding extra eye relief if needed. Mounted them on the gun with a scope, but never shot it. Decided to go with a different scope and rings. $40 shipped.
Looking at getting a 300 WinMag in either a PH2 or an Element. Leaning towards the Element, but recoil may be an issue with a 6 pound gun shooting a 300 WinMag. I’ve shot a 300 for many years, but they are all heavier guns in the 8 pound range. I want a lighter gun this time, but I’m not sure...
I did pattern them. That’s when I realized the low rib was really the issue. The Montefeltro (at least in 2022) did not come with shims. I could not get the stock dropped enough. The M2 shoots where I aim. No adjustments needed since it has the high rib. Side note…I do not shoot factory chokes...
I bought a Montefeltro in 2022. Couldn’t hit anything with that low rib. Sold it and bought a new M2 in November. I am extremely happy with the M2. Both were 26” 12 gauge.
We use one in the Mitchell, SD area, but he stays booked a few years in advance. Southeastern area of South Dakota is hard to beat for pheasants. Lots of guides there.
I don’t hunt as much as I used to since I quit duck hunting. Deer and pheasant is all I chase now and those days don’t add up to as much time hunting as I have had in the past.
I think those will be my next order. I have not been able to my hands on any RL25 or 26. I can find plenty of H1000. I’ve always used RL powders but I’m being forced to find alternatives.
Anyone getting good results with a 130 load in a 6.5prc? I just bought the gun. Starting to gather component for loading. I do have a box of 143 ELDX. Just thinking about playing around with a 130 with a little more velocity.
Just bought a new Weatherby Vanguard Talon in 6.5prc. Looking at the Talley lightweight rings/base combo. The Talley site does not explain the difference between the standard and extended versions. I am guessing the extended version gives extra space to adjust for eye relief. Is that correct? I...
