Last update. Last few weeks prior to the hunt didn’t train cardio at all. Had knee drained on July 5th (it started to fill with fluid again 3 days later). Then got Covid 12 days before my flight to base camp. Made it there okay. Hunted hard for 6 days. Legs and lungs were good. Knee gave...
Down 106.2 pounds. Six away from my original goal. Over did the training though. Cortisone shot in my knee on the 3rd and getting it drained/aspirated (Baker’s Cyst) on the 5th. Leave for the NWT in 16 days so this won’t stop me. I feel very ready physically despite the knee issue. Came a...
I am down exactly 100 lbs as of this morning. I was 300.2 lbs in late August of last year. I leave for the NWT in 42 days for my first sheep hunt. I am 12 pounds short of my goal but I feel really good physically. I cant wait to see that first digit turn to a "1" next week. Thankful I did...
Getting closer. Down 93 pounds with 19 to go. I’m a little behind where I wanted to be but pretty close. Had a bit of a setback in Aruba last week. Amazingly I worked out all but one day but managed to add a few pounds. Too much food and drink. Back at it this week. July 23rd is getting...
I am considering a Bighorn Sheep hunt in Alberta in 2027. Rifle hunt. Would like to get any recommendations on outfitters you have used. Would also like to know if anyone has hunted bighorns with Willow Creek and their experience with them.
Thanks for any information you are willing to share...
Good for you! I’m 52 and looking back at all of the conservative decisions I made….i would have been more aggressive and taken a bit more risk if I could do it over. I hope you update the forum as you go live out your decisions. Hope you knock down four good ones and have a great time.
Dave
In case anyone else has to deal with this, thought I’d share the end result. I filed a challenge with the FBI with a set of my fingerprints. Also submitted a Voluntary Appeal File and a separate and new set of fingerprints with the FBI. Two different forms and processes. It took about five...
Not much. Last year was India twice, the UAE, Singapore, France, and Norway. Most of my travel this year will be in North America. Losing TSA Pre-Check with the Global Entry revocation won’t be fun. Definitely worth my time to get that sorted as I fly several times a month.
Thanks for the comments/suggestions. I did provide my full SS# on the background check. I will apply for the UPIN. I submitted a challenge to the FBI with a set of my fingerprints. Looks like I need to file VAF, Voluntary Appeal File, to get a UPIN. Since I already submitted a challenge form...
Curious if anyone else has run into this situation. I purchased a rifle at the Sheep Show and it was shipped to a major retailer for me to pick up. Did the background check and was denied. The retailer cannot provide a reason, as they aren't given one. They can't give me a copy of my...
I’ve tried a lot of diets. From Keto to Atkins to Whole30 to Mediterranean. All have worked at different points in my life. I couldn’t find anything that worked for me over the last few years. Found myself a bit over 300lbs on a 5’9” frame. At 51 I felt horrible and wasn’t doing, or even...
Great info on this site. Booked on my first Dall Sheep hunt in NWT - 2024. So excited about that I booked a second one (combo) for the Yukon in 2026.
Now for 2025….
I’m sure there’s a few Huskers around. GBR
