We were ignorant and packed heavy. If we thought there was a chance we might need it, we brought it.
Our first walk in we left at 8pm. Somewhere we heard you could get 5 miles in 2.5 hours. That was incorrect. Loaded down you are looking at 1mph walking. We got 3 miles in and a storm was...
I wanted to do a thread since I learned so much from this forum for this hunt. I have been putting it off. I imagined some sort of organized information but I am just going to spill it out in bullet points in no order.
Our hunt was August 13-26th including travel time. If I had to do it...
I had pretty decent reception with AT&T this year along the road around Slope Mountain. My friends with version did not. I even had service on high ground 5 miles out east of Slope Mountain. I had service at cold foot and Deadhorse
EDIT: Oar and PFD is sold. Asking $1100 hipped for the boat. Only been aired up once!
I have a Alpaca Raft Mule with the cargo zipper, a Aqua Bond Manta Ray Carbon Fiber oar, and a Astral EV-Eight PFD (lifejacket) L/XL size in Solid Tan. Bought 7/22/24 for a hunt and did not use it on the...
I run a 243 because I have the brass and dies. My friend built a 6cm and he is shooting 87 v max pretty fast and accurately. If I reloaded and was starting from scratch I would highly consider the 6CM. If you need to walk into a store and buy ammo, the 243.
I only use it for getting in and out of a tree stand. I will use it when doing load development as well because I load my gun in my gun room then walk outside to shoot. I leave it off usually and it does not reset by itself.
My friend started with a 6.5 shooting 95 grain vmax. It did fine but for longer shots a 243 or 6 creed with a 70-90 grain bullet shoots flatter. We are all switched over to 243 or 6 creed in my group of friends.
25 grain bergers have been great in my 17 hornet at 3200 fps. Not sure how they would act going faster. I usually use a 243 but for around my house I use a 17 Hornet. I have shot 3 coyotes and several raccoons with no hide damage to anything.
