Understand I am behind the 8 ball on this, but looking to find private land in Unit 23 for buck pronghorn to take my 77 year old dad on his first antelope hunt. We did not draw the tags we put in for. He is in very good shape for a 77 year old, so walking is not a big deal. He fought through...
I have been spending a good amount to find ammo to shoot with my new 300 WSM. $45 for core-lokts 150 grain, up to $66 for Federal Premium Terminal Ascent in 200 gr.
I went to a gun shop and asked about reloading dies for the 300 WSM and the guy just started telling me I wasn't going to save...
I just bought Vortex Razor HD in 10x42.
They are lighter and more compact than the UHD'S.
ON sale at Cabela's right now for $699.98. They have 10% off with Club Card using promo code 24CLUB21 , ending today Feb 1, ends up being $630.
Savage customer service wants me to send both of my rifles in to be looked at. They said definitely want the gunsmith to see the 6.5 Creedmoor. Hopefully they address all the issues, but holding onto the 300 WSM until the 6.5 comes back
Yes, seems like a must. Also have the 4 scope base mounting threads (#8-40) are too tight. Looks like I need to run a tap through them, like they got some of the coating inside.
I have had this issue before on a Savage Axis. Would think Savage would decide to plug the threads before doing...
Also found that my 6.5 Creedmoor barrel is far off center from the stock. I thought I could loosen and tighten in the stock to get it centered but no go. I decided to drop into my MDT chassis and measured distances from the forend channel. I got .200" on one side, and .300" on the other...
I got my 6.5 creedmoor in the Ultralite. I was surprised because the 6 5 creedmoor feels heavier than my 300WSM? I got on a scalle and the Creedmoor says it is .2 lbs heavier, but it is not exactly a scale that I feel is repeatable. I did look at bolts, and the material removed and finish is...
I got the HNT26 w/ folder on their Black Friday sale, so 40% off. It was a hair over 1k after sales tax and shipping, so I am well under the 3k price tag
I was torn between the Creedmoor and the PRC. Cabelas was out of stock on the PRC but had the Creedmoor in stock, so I purchased it. I am sure I will be happy with the milder recoil. If I want to be abused I will use the 300 WSM
I got my savage 110 ultralite in 300 wsm , this will be my elk gun.
I am debating on what to get for antelope/deer out west and a mouflon sheep hunt in Hawaii. I currently have a Savage axis 6.5 creedmoor (have taken a nice buck running at 200 yards, cow elk at 300 yards, and bull elk at 100...
My only dilemma now is whether I need to buy another one in a different caliber.
I know the 300 wsm would be good for elk, but do I need a lighter caliber for sheep and antelope?
I currently have a 6.5 creedmoor in savage axis, but it is about a 15 pound rifle, not something I want to lug around.
