I think you are on the right thought process, however this statement is worth giving some critical thinking to.
You don’t have to post here, but just write down what ranges these were at and what the impact velocities were. The outcomes you describe could easily be within the variance in a...
1) Pull up your favorite ballistic calculator.
2) Pick your favorite projectile. Start with 6.5mm. Around here you'll find a strong preference for match bullets such as the ELD-M. Why? Because of the data.
3) Play with Muzzle Velocity in the calculator with the B.C. of that bullet and see...
They changed them in the past year to fit the HNT 26 specifically, and probably others bottom metals as well. If you look at one of their videos, they go over this. I’m hoping this is actually the case.
#2 If starting from scratch. It's the easy button and you get exactly what you want from the start. Also UM is having a sale right now on full custom builds. The HNT 26 is awesome and they can get you that at a discount with your build.

@wind gypsy Yeah I really like the MDT poly mags, but the only one that...
To tentatively answer my own question, I see that the Waters Mag's come in 223 AICS 6 rd. 2.4" and 2.6" internal length and also that Hawkins has the Hunter 223 5 Rd. 2.5" internal length.
I have an Unknown Munitions Tikka 223 coming. My preferred stock is a HNT 26.
Wondering if anyone knows what Tikka 223 mags fit and operate well with the HNT 26, factory or aftermarket.
I’m pushing 112 Match Burners at 2940 from an 18” 6 CM at 41.8g of H4350 in Alpha LRP. I’m fine with getting half a dozen firings out of my brass. But, I have a feeling the 22 CM I have coming will push 88’s pretty damn fast too.
I've also had communication with Ian from MRC regarding this. What I can say is that these rifles are going to be absolutely awesome and offered in the calibers, barrel lengths and twist rates that we will actually want.
