Non-Resident's Guide to Hunting Alaska, by Matt Wymer

Followed that link but had to close out and come back to it later - some sort of redirect happened at that point and it brought me to a spammy website that had an alert about my phone being compromised…

What do you do for a living?

Healthcare leadership. I get humped up and down the hospital for most of the year. Allows me to not feel guilty when I take PTO in the Spring for fly fishing and the fall for hunting. I tend to work while on PTO too. But I make it all work.

    Tacoma value these days?

Far too much money. Trucks in general have become outrageous - the bottomless economy stimulation over the last 3 years has really messed up the used truck market.

    Country music

I don’t love Childers’ new music all that much and he seems to be taking up an activist role. Older stuff is out of this world. Marcus King is amazing. Zach Bryan great. Favorite of all time is John Prine. Cried like a child the day he died. Many fond memories involving him or his music...

How many big game tags is too many?

I think the original question was how many tags is too many tags - I think it’s too many if you end up with more meat than you know what to do with. I think having to solicit people on social media or give it away (unplanned) might be an indicator you have maybe shot too many things.

Lakes in CO to hike into to fish

Not exactly what you’re looking for but the wife and I did a horseback ride / fishing trip with Halfmoon Outfitters out of Leadville - it was incredible. If you’re in the area, great way to spend a day!

Mans best friend - shooting vs euthanasia

Went through it in March - similar situation as it relates to the dog and my connection to hunting through him. I highly recommend having the vet come do it at your home. You can be holding him/her as the vet goes through the process. First med put Winston into a deep sleep, the next put him...

    Hunting Accident in South Dakota

We were chasing bunnies this fall and I passed off a shotgun to a friend who told me it wasn’t on safe. I was mortified and mentally shut down the rest of the day. I have an OCD side to me - I’ll come downstairs in the middle of the night to check locks on the doors and on our vehicles. I’m the...

    blood stained game bags

I was going to ask if anybody had issues with particular manufacturers. I have the MR game bags that have the handles stitched on the side - I love having those handles but the bags are kind of stiff/crunchy and they do not clean up well. I like my Allen bags much better and my hunting buddy has...

    Oregon Land Access

Agreed. I’ve paid to hunt other timber company land in the area and it sucks but it makes sense to me. I’ve heard South Coast lets employees hunt which is cool…for those employees.
