Some years back I was camped in an attended forest service campground. I arrived after the office had closed but the gate was open - so I went in and talked to a host who said they had someone leaving early and just pay in the AM and set up my campsite. It was summertime so I camped with...
This is a heckuva deal. I have a Browning xb1 hells canyon 6.5CM that's a tack driver. Very nice rifle and looks great. I ordered this in a 7MMPRC to try a new cartridge. Not a fan of the OD green stock but I'm going to try a hydro-dip on it.
Beautiful pictures. From down here in God's country down south I've got a few to add:
You probably weren't meaning this kind of camping, but at least I did sleep in a tent.
And when I'm not towing the boat, I camp in this:
*I thought I saw where someone asked for What was the reason you move, and this is my answer*
I wanted to move to FL simply for a change of scenery, to plot my own path. No specific reason FL other than it was warm with palm trees and beaches and wasn't that far of a drive. It almost didn't...
My biggest fear, working on my ranch up in N. FL is running into these bastards. In the last year I only had to shoot a cottonmouth and I hope it stays that way for a long time.
Last year I was driving down the two lane highway and saw a massive eastern diamondback rattler crossing the road...
Nonsense, Florida is nothing but condo towers like Del Boca Vista, retirees, and 4PM buffets.
Well some of it anyways, and they can keep it.
This is my Florida
The lack of humidity in AZ was a major net negative for me - I felt continuously dehydrated and my skin looked like a lizard coat. I aged years when my visit was in months. I will take humid, damp heat any day over the feeling like you're in an oven heat.
I grew up in St. Louis - moved to urban FL about 25 years ago. Was young and certainly not interested in politics - didn't even realize that FL was (and remains forever red, God-wiling) more conservative than MO.
Had to made a choice about 15 years back - relocate to Phoenix or Raleigh short...
Have you considered going south, like Gastonia (NC)?
Walkable downtown, nearby proximity to the Blue Ridge mountains, large lakes nearby, not too far from a major city (Charlotte). Also some public land hunting around.
Good luck with whatever you choose. I wouldn't pick Asheville either.
Yeah kind of hard to compare premium to itself....I wish that were true here, premium @ Costco is $3.61/gal, while diesel is $3.99/gal today.
(My weekend truck is a 6.6 Duramax, but didn't mention it as it's irrelevant to the OPs comparison)
I'm longing for the days of 99c diesel, never to return.
Another consideration is the cost of diesel is pretty close to diesel, and the 6.2 is recommended to run premium fuel.
I have a 6.2 in my Yukon, and get 22MPG on the highway. It's a rocket ship too, very nice truck towing, passing, just general driving.
There's nothing like the low-end...
This story happened about five years back.
My brother had a 2000 F350 7.3, long bed super cab 2WD truck around 175000 miles.
He was tough on stuff. If I gave him an anvil it would have soon have a mechanical problem. Except that truck was always reliable. It had a good body not a spec...
Terrible -
Had to entertain visitors the weekend I drew for Osceola turkey hunting. Hunted a WMA in south GA and my hunt was interrupted by a mudding fisherman playing loud rap music from a truck right behind my decoy setup. Got a chance to hunt nice private land middle GA and called in a...
Agreed 100% - I too have been pleasantly surprised. Ended up buying four of them so cheap I keep one in my truck, one in the trailer, one in the SxS, and another in my gear bag. The best deal was buying one of them complete (for less than the price of the battery) that was a customer return...
Top handle saws are extremely unbalanced for any "real" cutting. They're lightweight limbing saws for tree climbers to use in close quarters. Easy to slip and get a hand in the chain, or nick your arms/legs. I keep my GW in my truck box, have another one in the SxS - all rear handle...
Don't go with the top handle saw. Get the Echo DCS5000 if you go Echo for what you stated is your use case. (I have both of them.)
Just picked up a Husqvarna power Axe 350, haven't used it so no thoughts there but it seems like a great value.
My favorite is a Greenworks 60v 16" bar I got on...
