    When to quit?

You just aren’t good at hunting. No big deal and nothing wrong with that. If you enjoy it keep going. I’ve hunted in high pressure and low density deer areas my entire life. 10 deer in thirty years is rough. Also. You don’t need all that fancy gear. It won’t help you kill deer. Nothing will help...

Crispi style choice for whitetail saddle hunting

Why waste your money on crispis? Just because the dorks on this forum swear by them is my guess.

I Like my Crispis, but I want a wider toe box

The Crispi dorks on this forum will say no you just need to buy another pair of Crispis. I fell for it too and bought a pair of the guides. I hate them. Now I wear Jim green razorbacks if it’s dry and either danner recurves or the keen Durand if it’s gonna be wet.

if you liked them and they fit well buy them and swap the laces for 550 cord. All my boots have 550 cord laces.

Switching to Tennis Shoes / Trail Runners from Mountaineering Boots.

I’m going through the same journey as you. Switched to heavy mtn boots some years back cause all my coworkers and friends convinced me I had to or my feet would disintegrate. I never had a problem before carrying a heavy load or any or nonsense reason they say so I have switched back to...

    Leather boot grease

Not concerned about darkening as I always buy dark brown boots. The darker the better. Never heard of this but it has me intrigued. I think I will try it.

Do it all hunting boot recommendations

Doesn’t sound like you need a heavy alpine boot. Go with something like the Danner Recurve. That should check all the boxes for you and save you some cash to spend on tags.

L.L. Bean Maine Warden's Field Boot

Yeah I should have specified. Not a single review outside of the product page. They are a really good looking boot and I am very close to buying them. I moved along from the heavy mountain boots that everyone says you have to wear or your feet will disintegrate years ago and love these type of...

    Leather boot grease

What are y’all using for boot grease to waterproof (water resist) your leather boots now that winter is here? I’ve used obenauf's oil and wax, snow seal, renapur, etc. Haven’t found one that I was really happy with. Waxes push out of the leather too fast so I can’t see ever using a wax again...

    Bivy and Tarp?

That sounds real attractive to me. My setup is small, but not that small! Ha! I think I may go this route. I really like my hot tent when it is cold though so I need to figure that out.

Ditching Hanwag, need boot suggestions please.

Yes it is. It is the top of the line when it comes to Crispis. I do not agree with other user’s opinions that these boots have a wide toe box. I have many hours and miles in them. I use them for work and hunting. I am a forester for a land management agency and have worked all over the country...

    Bivy and Tarp?

I was thinking maybe just use a heavier tarp and build a fire off to the side.

    Bivy and Tarp?

Got me thinking about this setup now. Seems to check a lot of boxes. Only downside is not having the hot tent. Anyone got a solution to that?

    Blisters after break-in?

Curious if you're still using the Oboz Bridger boots? I've been using heavy mountain boots for a long time and wanting to switch to something like this. I just don't think the heavy boots are necessary. I've done hunts in my keen targees and been much more enjoyable and just as capable. And that...
