    Saw recommendations

If you're interested in a DIY route, a piece of 3/4" PVC and some p-cord will let you use any reciprocating saw blade. Just heat the PVC and flatten the end enough hold the saw blade (notches help keep it in place). I flattened the remainder of the pipe perpendicular to the end and wrapped it...

    Wyoming Elk Hunt

You might consider the rules/regs about transporting brain/spinal material across state lines, too. May need to take a method of removing brain or a saw for skull cap.

    Pack build with Ultragrid material

Great job! That looks awesome. How is the ultra fabric to work with compared to a lightweight silpoly?

    Fabric Paint/Dye Options

If you're looking tint with a solid color, the Rit dyes should do the trick. I've never tried it, but you might even be able to 'paint' it on in specific areas too keep the camo pattern. Not sure how much it would bleed though.

One item you wish you carried sooner?

This guy. As a flatlander trying to acclimate to altitude, I HATE blowing up my pad. Works as a backup battery pack, too.

Best Elk Hunting Boots With Minimal Break-In For Early Oct. Elk Hunt

No break in needed for my Quest 4's. After 200 miles or so they were no longer waterproof. Otherwise, still solid for early season use.

    Insulated vs uninsulated boots..

Totally agree. Sitting in a whitetail stand - insulated. Hiking/hunting in the mountains - no insulation.
