I ended up going with an Opah bag. It’s big and a bit bulky, but a lot smaller than comparable cooler(s).
I got the Opah as it doesn’t leak. Have had it in the back of my SUV with some meat in it and was good to go.
It wasn’t cheap, but I’m glad to have it.
Yeah. I see your point. It’s just hard to sort through all the info on the forum right now. Lots of interest and contradictory and evolving information like the below:
Pardon my ignorance, but I’m still a bit confused as to why the folks who know tend to prefer the tipped bullets vs the OTM / Berger style.
You would think that the 3-6” of neck / penetration before disruption would be ideal given the concerns and reports of some of these bullets ‘blowing up’...
I’m confused too. But to be honest I’m having difficulty keeping the story straight between the 6.5 bullets tipped ones like eldm - 140, 147, eldx, tmk and even the untipped bullets like the Berger EH as well.
What are the meaningful differences in terminal performance across the different...
I’m running low on ammo and need to replenish my supply. So naturally looking at options.
I’m doing a lot more elk and western hunting these past few years and have observed that mono bullets work a lot like an arrow with a narrow but deep wound channel. And am always looking for a way to be...
Yeah. I’m very intrigued by the TMK based on the great feedback here. Not sure I’ve seen a negative review from those who have used them.
Same thing applies to the eldm, especially when I run the ballistics and see how much better it keeps its speed. Few more negative reviews out there about...
I’m looking to move away from the mono bullets I’ve been shooting the last few years and shoot a fragmenting bullet based on all the testimonials and photos on the board here. Primarily looking to increase my odds of recovering an animal, but to be honest haven’t had any issues with the 127 LRX...
Resurfacing this thread. Looking to get my 6.5 CM set up for elk this fall. Have read the small caliber threads and listened to Form on the exo podcast too.
If I’m starting out fresh, making a switch from mono to fragmenting bullet, and I don’t currently reload; is the 147 Eldm the one to...
Still haven’t pulled the trigger, will depend on what tags I end up drawing for this fall and all that. Really leaning towards the Ellis Shackleton, but think the slingfin / SG will be lighter/small enough for my canoe camping trips.
How does the party application system work in Montana? If there are 4 people applying do you have 4 entries into the draw or 1?
I know they average the points across everyone, but can’t tell if the party gets one entry.
What size do you have? Looking at tents like this too, and trying to find the right balance between size - not overkill for a couple of guys, and not too crowded with 3 or 4 when the time calls.
How many can you comfortably fit/ sleep in the 10x11?
For the basecamp it sounds like the canvas will be a more comfortable and durable option, but I continue to be intrigued by the nylon double wall as I’m hoping it’s as nice as the arctic oven at a lighter weight and smaller pack size.
Yeah. I’ve seen that one too. Really looking for something double walled. Looks like the gamme (unless you put in the liner) is only single walled.
Canvas tipee looks interesting too.
Hey everyone,
Looking for a basecamp tent for hunting trips. Lots of great options out there from Ellis, snowtrekker, arctic oven, seek outside, stone glacier / slingfin.
I’m really interested in the stone glacier skydome / slingfin arctic 6. Looks like a great combination of durability...
