Trail Access Restrictions - No UTVs = No Horses

Don't like those pesky, stupid rules? Then someone needs to find a different place to hunt.

Are you high? This makes no sense.

Reading through this entire thread and checking out the various photos, the idea that anyone would want a cartridge that produced more devastation than the 22cal TMK is insane to me. The idea that a larger caliber would provide a "margin of error" is also laughable. One of the worse shots I ever...

I've been shooting IMI 77gr Razor Core which is a SMK projectile. Usually can find it for around $1.00 a round.

    Howa VS Tikka

Someone said something about a build on a Winchester. My poor man's Winchester M70 build. Rifle was a gunshow pick up in 225 Winchester Krieger 24inch Barrel in 6CM. It had a cheap plastic stock on it but I was just about out of money at that point however my smith had an old wooden stock...

    Planning public land pheasants

Southwestern Nebraska was bleak last year and it remains to be seen what it will be like this year. The combination of bad drought in the summer of 22, a harsh 22-23 winter and high predator numbers really hammered the population. It will take some time to bounce back.

I "broke" mine in by shooting at steel. Not a fan of the shoot and clean, shoot and clean, break in process but to each their own.

Took my new Tikka compact 223 out to the range on Sunday. I was pretty impressed. Shot some Priv 75 gr to start, them some IMI 77 5.56 and finally some Black Hills 77 tmk. Shot steel, 200 yards to start then out to 400. Even connected first shot at 900yards with the IMI. Of course the target is...

BLM to open 22 mil acres in Western states to solar

The solar farms would be only one aspect of the proposal. There will have to be substantial infrastructure built to get the power from the solar farm to the end user. Roads, power lines, substations, all crisscrossing this BLM land.

BLM to open 22 mil acres in Western states to solar

Every shit policy ever adopted was a shit proposal at some point. And this is a shit proposal.

BLM to open 22 mil acres in Western states to solar

We shut one proposed one down here. They came before the planning commission and were asked what there was in place for decommission at the end of the solar farm's life. We were thinking a bond. We were told by the company proposing it that there was no need for that as someone would be along to...

    Centerfire rifle drop testing: Tikka/SWFA

Sorry I'm a little dense. So you shot these offhand?

I dont understand the hostility towards wolf reintroduction in Colorado

Almost all predators will take the easiest route to a meal. If these are problem wolves that Colorado transplanted from Oregon, then ranchers heading into calving season could have an immediate problem. When I had cattle even coyotes could be an issue with newborns and they would hang around the...

Thanks for making that point. :) I bought the compact for the 20 inch barrel. Already have the optional spacer installed so LOP is standard now.

Good Lord that person is only a few years older than me  and yet they've bought into some magical "firepower" belief. :ROFLMAO: It really isn't surprising considering the old, "5.56 was developed to wound" is still making the rounds. Anyway, brought my brand new Tikka Compact in 223...

    Caliber recommendations

Picked up a Tikka compact in 223 today. I ended up selling my 6.5 CM as I seldom shoot it and I have a custom 6mm CM and a couple 7x57s if I suddenly feel I need a larger caliber. With the Tikka and my ARs sharing ammo I'm pretty set to do a lot of shooting and hopefully get my skills back where...

    Caliber recommendations

Factory ammo, for practice and hunting points to 223. You could shoot factory 77MK or just about any other 223, which you can find for a lot less than any 243 or 6.5 CM and save enough to buy another rifle later on if you're not comfortable with the 223. If you do want to hunt with the 223 you...

    7mm-08 for elk?

The 7-08 has very similar ballistics to 7x57. Not sure there's anything on the planet that hasn't been killed with 7x57.

    Daytime raccoon calling

Where I live trees are at a premium but there are a lot of coons around. I'm just not sure where to check for them but it makes sense getting out there when there's snow on the ground would give a guy a fair idea of where to call. Thanks for the tips.

I dont understand the hostility towards wolf reintroduction in Colorado

As a neighbor of Colorado who visited there off and on for 50+ years it's pretty sad to watch what has transpired there. The wolf introduction is another example of the continued degradation of a once wonderful state. People with absolutely no skin in the game voted for the release of MORE...
